Artist's Story
Jessica Streib
Blaine County, Idaho
Founded in 2021
Jessica ‘Jess’ Streib grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and has called Idaho home for over 25 years. Living in a log cabin, with her husband and silver lab, she finds inspiration for her encaustic artwork from the natural world and local surroundings. The word encaustic dates back to 1st Century AD originating from Ancient Greek: ἐγκαυστικός, which means "burning in", and this element of heat is necessary for a painting to be called encaustic. This process of burning in beeswax and often pigments is the foundation for Jess’s original artwork.
