Series I Historic Ketchum T-Shirts by Independent Goods
Ketchum, Idaho
1930s-1970s
Ketchum, Idaho, was officially founded in 1880. As any town in America, it has transformed itself over the decades, once the largest sheep ranching area in the USA, now a beloved ski and summer recreation area. The Alpine Club was located in the heart of town on Main Street, where Whiskey Jacques now stands. A gathering place for many including Ernest Hemingway. Mary Hemingway described the place as “very fun and gay,” and reported where Hemingway had his first steak in Ketchum for .85 cents. The T-shirts are a celebration of the history and memories of yesteryear, with the hope that the history is preserved.
