Skutuna
Skutuna, Sweden
Founded in 1607King Karl IX of Sweden founded Skultuna in 1607 as a brass foundry in the village of Skultuna. Sweden had become indebted to the Hanseatic League, and refining copper into brass would reduce imports of brass and increase income from exports. The town of Skultuna was chosen for its waterpower and natural resources, and 400+ years later the brass pieces are made in the same location. Skultuna continues to supply the Royal Court of Sweden and collaborates with leading international designers to create award-winning, timeless designs that are intended to be passed down for generations.
